In a noteworthy partnership, Waitrose has once again joined forces with British fashion designer Lulu Guinness for their 2024 Christmas gifting range. This collaboration, marking their third joint venture, promises a collection that combines style and sustainability.
Waitrose and Lulu Guinness have expanded their creative partnership with a new Christmas collection set for 2024. The collaboration is already generating interest with its eco-friendly approach and fashionable designs. The first item in this anticipated range is a tote bag, priced at £15, crafted from recycled plastic bottles and featuring Lulu Guinness’s distinctive lip design. This tote also includes two woven strap lengths, offering practicality alongside style.
Available both online and in-store at Waitrose and John Lewis, the collection will soon introduce additional items such as a reusable coffee cup and a drinks bottle, retailing at £7 and £12 respectively. Notably, these products maintain the signature Lulu design, further enhancing their appeal among eco-conscious consumers.
Reflecting on their previous collaborations, Waitrose experienced significant success with their first tote bag release in September 2023, which was heralded as an ‘affordable it-bag’. The popularity of the line saw 75% of stock sold on its launch day, prompting Waitrose to implement a purchase limit due to high demand. A similar enthusiasm surrounded their second collaboration earlier this year, with sales reportedly averaging one every four seconds.
Tim Shaw, the buyer for Waitrose’s non-food items, expressed excitement about this ongoing partnership, emphasising the focus on durability and sustainability. He remarked on the inclusion of a detachable coin purse with this year’s tote, adorned with Lulu Guinness’s iconic red lip motif. Shaw conveyed hopes that these offerings would be well-received by customers, whether for personal use or as gifts.
Lulu Guinness herself shared her enthusiasm for this recurring collaboration, highlighting the uniqueness and playful nature of the new designs. She emphasised her aim for the tote design to bring joy to consumers, with the bold lip motif symbolising a touch of festive cheer.
The collaboration between Waitrose and Lulu Guinness stands as a celebrated fusion of fashion and environmental consciousness. With a strong emphasis on sustainable materials and innovative design, this partnership continues to capture consumer interest and is set to be a highlight of the 2024 Christmas gifting season.
