Adam Warby has been appointed as the new chair of Ocado, taking over during a significant period of growth as the company ventures into new markets.
Adam Warby, who chairs the executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles, will become Ocado’s new chair. He steps into this role at a time that CEO Tim Steiner describes as a pivotal moment for the company, as it expands its technological reach and ventures into fresh sectors globally. Warby is set to commence his tenure as an independent non-executive director on 1 November, before fully assuming the role of chair on 1 December.
Ocado’s CEO, Tim Steiner, remarked on the importance of this appointment, highlighting how Ocado’s technology is now operational with 11 out of 13 global partners. This growth journey marks Ocado’s transformation as it collaborates with partners to enhance their online capabilities. Steiner expressed confidence in Warby’s expertise in global technology and consulting, seeing it as a valuable asset to Ocado’s board and leadership team.
Rick Haythornthwaite, Warby’s predecessor, decided to step down to focus on his duties as chair of the NatWest Group. Under Haythornthwaite’s leadership, Ocado has seen substantial growth, which is acknowledged and appreciated by both the board and employees. Warby aims to build on this foundation, noting Ocado’s unique position as an innovative business in the UK and his excitement for future opportunities.
As Ocado continues to grow, the company is poised to create greater value for shareholders. The leadership team’s vision is supported by Warby’s commitment to guiding Ocado through its next growth phase.
With Warby’s appointment, Ocado is set to fortify its strategic direction, leveraging his expertise to enhance its technological and market footprint.
