Lidl has unveiled its 2024 Christmas advert, placing a spotlight on the joy of giving, a message intertwined with its festive collaboration with the charity Neighbourly.
The advert, a 60-second film debuting on ITV1 and social media platforms, tells the touching story of a young boy left on the sidelines as others play in the snow. His forlorn demeanour is noted by a compassionate girl, who encounters an elderly woman advising her to wish upon the sound of a ringing bell. This narrative unfolds as her family members indulge in whimsical wishes, from gingerbread men to transformed Brussels sprouts, symbolising the magic of the season.
As the story progresses, the young girl chooses a selfless wish – to gift her Lidl woolly hat to the boy she observed earlier. This act of kindness mirrors Lidl’s real-world initiative, the nationwide in-store Christmas Toy Bank, which appeals to customers to donate new, unopened toys and games to children in need.
Operating until 16 December, Lidl’s Toy Bank invites contributions at all its stores. These donations will be distributed across local communities via Neighbourly’s charity network, with the ambitious goal of delivering over 100,000 toys to children this year. This effort is crucial, as 97% of the associated charities express a significant need for toys.
The campaign underscores a broader theme of community involvement and sharing during the festive season, urging the public to contribute to a cause that spreads joy and comfort to less fortunate children.
Lidl’s Christmas campaign, through both its imaginative advert and practical toy donation drive, embodies the spirit of giving and community support, inviting everyone to partake in spreading festive cheer.
