Lyca Radio has achieved remarkable success at the 2024 Asian Media Awards, winning the prestigious Radio Station of the Year award. This victory comes hot on the heels of its strategic expansion into Manchester, where it acquired and rebranded Asian Sound Radio in December 2023.
This year marks significant growth for Lyca Radio, as it not only expanded into Greater Manchester but also rolled out a new DAB variant in Leicestershire. The move to strengthen its presence in these regions has been a pivotal part of its strategy to widen its reach.
Securing the Station of the Year accolade for the second time, having first won in 2022, Lyca Radio stands out among UK Asian broadcasters. The station’s commitment to delivering quality content has earned it nominations in other categories, such as Best Radio Show and Radio Presenter of the Year.
Raj Baddhan, Chief Executive Officer of Lyca Radio Network, celebrated the team’s hard work and the support of their audience, stating, “This award is a testament to my team’s incredible work over the past year and beyond. We have also been celebrating our recent RAJAR figures, which put the Lyca Group stations (Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold) at No.1 as the leading commercial Asian radio network in London. Thank you, everyone.”
The Asian Media Awards, now in their eleventh year, continue to recognise excellence in the media and arts sectors within the Asian community. This recognition reflects Lyca Radio’s influential position in the industry.
Lyca Radio’s strategic expansion and quality programming have solidified its status as a leader in UK Asian broadcasting.
