Made Smarter, a significant movement in the digital transformation of SME manufacturers, has recently backed 23 North West businesses, marking a £25m investment milestone in technology. This initiative is government-funded and industry-backed, primarily focused on enhancing technological capabilities among small and medium-sized enterprises in the North West region.
Among the latest companies to secure funding are Edinburgh Weavers, Duo UK, and Trekk Vans, receiving grants up to £20,000 for new technologies. This funding milestone underscores the commitment to bolstering digital adoption across various sectors, facilitating growth and innovation.
Over the past six years, the programme has enabled 330 companies to secure £7.1m in matched funding. These enterprises have collectively invested £18m from the private sector into 379 projects, integrating cutting-edge technologies like robotics, AI, 3D printing, and sensors.
The strategic investment is set to add £267m to the economy over the next three years. It is projected to create over 1,700 jobs and enhance the skills of 3,200 existing employees, reflecting a strong emphasis on both technological and human capital development.
