Today, Majestic, a specialist wine retailer, has launched a strategic partnership with Just Eat, a prominent rapid delivery firm, to broaden its on-demand services.
This collaboration allows Majestic customers to select from a vast array of wines, including Champagne, Sparkling, Bordeaux, and Loire, as well as wines from Italy, New Zealand, and Australia. Both the Chosen By Majestic and Definition By Majestic own-label wines are included. Additionally, a wide range of premium spirits and beers can now be ordered through the Just Eat app, with delivery times averaging as little as 30 minutes.
The initiative kicks off from 43 Majestic locations, encompassing 16 stores in London, and outlets in Edinburgh, Sheffield, Derby, Abingdon, and High Wycombe. The rollout aims to cover 177 Majestic stores across the UK by Christmas, significantly enhancing the retailer’s rapid delivery footprint.
Maria Lopez, Majestic’s commercial general manager, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, ‘This exciting new partnership with Just Eat will allow us to serve even more customers, whenever they need us, through the rapidly growing on-demand channel.’ Lopez noted that customers highly value the capability to access their local Majestic stock in real time, with flexible delivery options for same-day or next-day delivery or collection.
This move complements Majestic’s existing rapid fulfilment partnerships, aligning with consumer demand for efficient local delivery services. In the 2023/24 period, ecommerce sales comprised over 20% of the retailer’s total retail sales, driven by the popularity of the Shop Local proposition, which provides real-time stock availability for easy collection or delivery.
Amy Heather, the director of strategic partnerships at Just Eat, commented, ‘We’re delighted to add Majestic’s selection of quality wines, beers and spirits to the growing range of retailers we’re bringing to Just Eat’s customers.’ She highlighted the versatility of the service, catering to needs ranging from weekly shopping to last-minute gifts.
