- Holland & Barrett seeks accessibility by leveraging retail park locations for its concessions.
Holland & Barrett is set to enhance its UK presence with plans to open up to 50 new stores in 2025. This ambitious plan reflects the company’s ongoing investment in physical retail spaces, following a successful year that saw 35 store openings and the refurbishment of 280 locations.
The upcoming expansions will include standalone stores, innovative new formats, and in-store concessions with retail partners. As reported, these strategic moves aim to broaden the retailer’s footprint and make its offerings widely accessible to consumers.
Nick Gerrard, Holland & Barrett’s property and format director, has stated that the company is actively in discussions with potential new partners. These discussions are particularly focused on retail park locations, with supermarkets as ideal partners. Gerrard noted, “There are some undeniable facts, we want Holland & Barrett to be accessible. We’ve only got 19 standalone sites on retail parks because generally the size of boxes available to us are too big.”
Currently, Holland & Barrett operates under 50 concessions within Tesco stores, but there is a plan to augment this number significantly, with at least eight more set to open by Christmas. The retailer’s collaboration with Next, initiated in July, has already resulted in new concessions within three of Next’s stores.
Overall, these expansions and partnerships signify Holland & Barrett’s commitment to increasing its market reach and providing greater accessibility to its health and wellness products across the UK.
