Big Health UK appoints Evergreen PR to boost Sleepio adoption, a digital insomnia treatment.
- Insomnia affects one in three people weekly in the UK, impacting mental and physical health.
- Current access to CBTi, the recommended treatment, is limited due to a therapist shortage.
- NICE has endorsed Sleepio, citing it as effective and cost-saving for the NHS.
- Evergreen PR’s campaign aims to reduce dependency on sleeping pills and improve access.
Big Health UK has strategically partnered with Evergreen PR to enhance the reach of Sleepio, a digital treatment for insomnia. This initiative focuses on increasing awareness and usage of Sleepio, which provides cognitive behavioural therapy for Insomnia (CBTi). The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has recommended CBTi as the primary treatment for insomnia; however, its availability is limited due to a scarcity of trained therapists.
Insomnia, a condition affecting millions in the UK, significantly hampers both mental and physical health, as well as overall quality of life. Despite the proven benefits of CBTi, many patients struggle to access this treatment. Sleepio, recognised by NICE as the first digital solution that is both clinically effective and cost-efficient, offers a viable alternative. Although it has been accessible in Scotland since 2021, Sleepio’s availability in England remains limited.
Evergreen PR’s role is pivotal in crafting a communication programme to promote Sleepio’s adoption nationwide. Their strategy aims to not only save NHS resources but also to make CBTi accessible to more patients. This approach could reduce reliance on sleeping pills, which pose risks of dependence and withdrawal effects.
According to Will Goddard, managing director at Big Health UK, the collaboration with Evergreen PR is crucial for achieving their goal of widespread Sleepio adoption, ensuring patients receive the necessary help. Goddard highlights the importance of national availability for delivering the health and financial benefits Sleepio can provide.
Leigh Greenwood, leading Evergreen PR, echoes this sentiment, stressing the need for effective treatment access. Their campaign with Big Health will highlight the importance of reaching those in need with evidence-based digital healthcare solutions.
Previously, Evergreen PR successfully campaigned for The Sleep Charity, which called for government-backed improvements in sleep support, gaining ministerial attention. This experience positions them as an apt partner for Big Health’s mission.
The alliance between Big Health and Evergreen PR represents a proactive step towards improving insomnia treatment access in the UK.
