MediaCityUK’s Dock10 has made a substantial leap in live production technology by unveiling what it claims to be the first real-time system allowing simultaneous control of both physical and virtual lighting using a single industry-standard lighting console.
This technological advancement enables productions to fully integrate virtual lighting into their setups during live shoots, considerably broadening the creative options available to lighting directors and enhancing the realism of programmes produced in its virtual studios.
The innovative system functions by synchronising with physical studio lights and virtual lights incorporated into set designs in pre-production. The control is facilitated through a DMX console located in the lighting gallery, ensuring seamless operation during filming.
A key feature of Dock10’s system is the extensive selection of virtual lights that mimic the qualities of physical lighting. From targeted beams to LED ribbons, any combination of lighting effects can be implemented before or during shoots, with their impact instantly visible in the studio environment.
