Amazon has reached an unprecedented milestone with its latest Black Friday and Cyber Monday event. This sales period, running from 21 November to 2 December, has become the largest in the company’s history, based on a 12-day comparison ending on Cyber Monday from previous years.
During this period, Amazon offered a wide array of tempting deals, resulting in record-breaking sales. Consumers in the UK showed a strong preference for Alexa-enabled devices, including the latest Echo Dot and Fire TV Stick 4K models.
The interest in smart home technology was matched by a demand for other best-selling products such as the Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer, Pukka Herbs Advent Calendar, and the Oral-B Pro 3 Electric Toothbrush.
The trend towards sustainable shopping was evident as UK customers increasingly selected quality used, refurbished, or open-box products through Amazon’s resale offers. Popular items in this category included the Russell Hobbs Steam and Clean, Fisher-Price Butterfly Dreams 3-In-1 Projection Mobile, and Xbox Series S.
Furthermore, independent sellers saw remarkable success, with their products accounting for over 60% of the total sales made on Amazon’s site during the Black Friday week and Cyber Monday. This showcases the platform’s pivotal role in supporting small and medium businesses.
Doug Herrington, CEO of Amazon Stores worldwide, emphasised the economic benefits to customers, highlighting that billions were saved during the holiday shopping event. “And we have many more fun and exciting ways for them to continue to save this holiday season,” he stated.
Amazon’s landmark sales event underscores its continued influence and adaptability in the competitive e-commerce sector.
