A leading tech firm has decided to relocate its Birmingham operations to the newly refurbished Billiards Building, situated in the heart of the city’s business district. The move involves taking up 9,000 square feet of office space under a ten-year lease agreement, reaffirming Birmingham’s position as a hub for significant corporate activities.
This tech company, which caters to both public and private sectors with IT infrastructure services, will soon call the seventh floor of the Billiards Building its new home. This strategic position offers 79,000 square feet of Grade A office space, replete with modern amenities such as a revamped reception area, a café, a gym, a yoga studio, and a communal roof terrace, all tailored to meet the expectations of today’s businesses seeking quality and sustainability.
The relocation signifies a shift from the firm’s current headquarters at Interchange Place on the same street, where it has been operational since 2019. The choice to move to the Billiards Building, following extensive renovations costing £35 million, underlines the importance of high standard office amenities. The facility was acquired by Grosvenor in 2021, who played a pivotal role in its transformation.
Theo Holmes from CBRE in Birmingham emphasized the shift in corporate needs, stating that modern office occupiers demand more in terms of space quality and onsite facilities. “Today’s corporate occupiers want and expect more from their office, whether that’s in the quality of the space, the provision of onsite amenities or the building’s green credentials,” Holmes remarked, highlighting the significance of the refurbishment in catering to these needs.
Commercial property advisors, including CBRE, JLL, and LSH, facilitated the lease agreement, ensuring that the tech firm secured a place within Birmingham’s bustling business ecosystem.
