Quality Street has made the decision to discontinue its Collisions sharing bar, only a year after it was introduced to much fanfare.
The Collisions bar, which offered a unique combination of the popular ‘The Purple One’ and ‘Green Triangle’ flavours, has been officially pulled from production. This was confirmed following a query from a consumer on X, previously known as Twitter, who expressed difficulty in finding the beloved chocolate bar, stating that it was their favourite. Quality Street responded, “Unfortunately, it wasn’t as popular as others in the range, so it has been discontinued.”
This announcement has disappointed fans, with many taking to social media to express their dissatisfaction. One user lamented the loss, emphasising the bar as their favourite quality treat. Introduced in August 2023, the Collisions bar was touted for its blend of caramel, creamy hazelnuts, and crunchy hazelnut pieces, making it a distinctive option for chocolate lovers.
Prior to its discontinuation, the 235g chocolate bar was available in major supermarkets across the United Kingdom. While the Collisions bar will no longer be part of the Quality Street collection, customers can still enjoy the 87g Purple One sharing bar, which remains available in most supermarkets.
In another move, the company has been trialling a new, environmentally-friendly paper tub for its iconic Christmas chocolates. Over 200,000 of these paper tubs are being trialled in selected Tesco stores during the festive season, supporting the distribution of approximately 150 tonnes of Quality Street sweets.
The discontinuation of the Collisions bar has left a segment of Quality Street fans disheartened. However, the company’s efforts to innovate with environmentally friendly packaging indicates its forward-looking approach. This move reflects a broader trend in the confectionery industry towards sustainability, and consumers can look forward to more such initiatives in the future.
