This collaborative effort marks the inception of the world’s first commercial production of the material, driven by Graphene Innovations Manchester (GIM).
Aimed at constructing futuristic eco-cities in the desert, this project involves the establishment of a manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia. The groundbreaking material, known for being 200 times stronger than steel, could revolutionise various sectors. The factory is anticipated to be operational by the end of 2025, with the first machine already in use.
This venture is set to inject about £250 million into Greater Manchester, resulting in the creation of more than 1,000 jobs. Such an economic boost reinforces the project’s importance for both local and national economic landscapes. UK Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer has expressed his support, illustrating the deal’s significant impact.
