In an unprecedented achievement, Manchester City has set a Premier League record by generating £715 million in revenue, an increase of £2.2 million from the previous year. This landmark figure was attained even though there was a reduction in broadcast revenue amounting to £297.4 million, a decline of £4.7 million. This drop was due to the men’s team being knocked out at the quarter-final stage of the Champions League, which they had won in the previous season.
The club’s commercial revenue rose by £3.3 million, reaching £344.7 million, while matchday income increased by £3.7 million. Such financial gains were further bolstered by a successful transfer window that netted the club £139 million in profits from player sales, underscoring Manchester City’s effective market strategies.
Khaldoon al-Mubarak, the City chairman, expressed the organisation’s unwavering ambition. He stated, ‘Our constant ambition to target and achieve the unprecedented is a mark of the organisation that we have become. On and off the field, our passion for the next challenge is underpinned by deliberate and detailed planning and a shared belief in the collaborative learning culture that we have built.’ This reflects the rigorous focus on continual improvement since the club was acquired by Sheikh Mansour in 2008.
Chief Executive Ferran Soriano highlighted Manchester City’s expanding global footprint. Manchester City has become the most-watched football club worldwide for the second consecutive year, attracting a global television audience of 694 million. The club’s digital engagement is robust, with over 186 million followers and more than 1.5 billion interactions across its platforms. The Netflix docuseries ‘Together: Treble Winners’ alone has achieved over 11 million streams.
Locally, the Etihad Stadium continues to enrich matchday experiences, with the club’s Fanzone ranked as the best in the league for three years in a row. The upcoming £300 million north stand expansion aims to transform the stadium with new facilities including a hotel and restaurants, expanding its capacity to over 60,000 seats. Additionally, the Co-op Live concert arena, which opened this year, is set to offer year-round entertainment, enhancing the club’s reputation as a premier destination.
Manchester City’s financial achievements underline its strategic focus and commitment to growth both on and off the field.
