In a bid to support customers this Christmas season, a major supermarket has announced a significant price reduction on essential festive vegetables.
Beginning 19 December, customers will have the opportunity to purchase key vegetables at a fraction of their usual cost. Items such as 1kg of carrots, 500g of sprouts, 360g of broccoli, and 500g of parsnips will be available for just 15p each, both in-store and online, until 24 December. Notably, this year’s offer extends to 2kg bags of potatoes, included for the first time, all designed to provide customers with everything needed for a traditional Christmas dinner at affordable prices.
Alongside the discounted vegetable range, there is also a promotion on British Whole Fresh Turkey, available from 19 to 24 December. This initiative reflects the retailer’s commitment to offering value during the festive period, when many customers are managing tighter budgets.
Amidst these promotional efforts, the retailer disclosed a 50% booking of its Christmas delivery slots, urging customers to secure their reservations early to avoid disappointment. The company is also investing nearly £1 million in community initiatives to address loneliness among the elderly, particularly those over 60 during the holidays.
David Hills, the chief customer officer, emphasised the supermarket’s dedication to providing necessary items at low prices and addressing social issues such as loneliness through significant investments and community initiatives. He highlighted the ‘Chatty Cafés’ initiative aimed at bringing people together and the ‘Winter Warmers’ deal as important societal contributions.
These festive season measures showcase the supermarket’s proactive approach to supporting both its customers and the broader community, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the holiday season with less financial strain and increased social support.
