In anticipation of Veganuary, a plant-based food company is set to introduce two innovative chicken substitutes, aiming to provide a realistic alternative to traditional chicken dishes.
The food company has announced the launch of its chilled ‘Isn’t Chicken Kyiv’, crafted from soya and fava proteins and filled with a wild garlic plant-based butter. This product will be available from 1 January at Sainsbury’s, priced at £4.95. Additionally, a frozen option, ‘Isn’t Chicken Wings’, will also be introduced, with Asda stocking them from 6 January and Morrisons from 13 January, at £3.75 each.
The company describes the wings as having a seaweed-based crispy skin, designed to replicate the texture and savour of conventional chicken wings while offering a lower saturated fat content compared to real chicken. This innovative approach not only caters to those who follow a plant-based diet but also appeals to ‘plant curious’ consumers who might explore these options during Veganuary.
The CEO of the company stated, ‘Whether you’re fully plant-based or just plant curious this Veganuary, get ready, because this changes everything.’ He emphasized their commitment to pushing the boundaries of plant-based culinary innovation, aiming to provide consumers with meat-free choices that do not sacrifice taste or texture. ‘It’s delicious, it’s nutritious, and it’s a step closer to a world where animals aren’t food,’ he added.
Earlier this month, the company underwent a brand refresh, revamping their packaging to better reflect their ongoing dedication to food innovation and to stand out in a competitive market.
These new plant-based offerings are poised to make a significant impact during Veganuary, providing consumers with more variety and healthier options while supporting a shift towards plant-based diets.
