Morrisons has announced a dramatic price reduction on Christmas vegetables, aiming to make festive dinners more affordable for families across the UK.
From the 18th to the 24th of December, More Card holders at Morrisons will benefit from a significant discount on key festive vegetables. These vegetables, all British-grown, include carrots, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, and whole swedes, each available for an exceptional 10 pence. Additionally, Morrisons is offering their British Best potatoes at half price, costing £1.15 for a 2kg bag until the 1st of January.
This initiative comes as part of the supermarket’s continued support for local producers, showcasing a pledge of over £1.4 billion annually to British farming. Such moves are designed to aid families in preparing their ideal Christmas meal without financial strain. Fraser Lovatt, Morrisons’ category director of produce and horticulture, remarked that the presence of seasonal vegetables is essential for any Christmas dinner.
In addition to the vegetable discounts, Morrisons is running other promotions, such as a half-price offer on Market Street Whole Salmon until the 5th of January. More Card holders can also purchase reduced-price celebratory drinks, with select champagnes and prosecco available at a discount until the New Year.
Morrisons’ decision aligns with similar strategies employed by other leading UK supermarkets, such as Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Asda, all of which have recently reduced the prices of their Christmas vegetable offerings.
Furthermore, Morrisons continues to provide various discounts to their network of 2,500 partner farms. These include a 5% discount usable in stores and online, alongside a 25% discount on café food and drink each Tuesday, further supporting their commitment to British agriculture.
In an effort to make festive meals more accessible, Morrisons’ price reduction on essential vegetables represents a noteworthy support for both consumers and local producers this Christmas season.
