- Lucky Saint’s alcohol-free lager is the chosen addition.
- Tesco expands its seasonal selection with 11 new autumn/winter dishes.
Tesco has made a notable addition to its Finest Dine In for Two offer by incorporating a non-alcoholic beer for the first time. This strategic move reflects the changing trends in consumer preferences towards lower alcohol consumption.
The supermarket giant decided to partner with Lucky Saint, selecting their alcohol-free lager for this new offering. This choice aligns with the increasing consumer demand for no and low alcohol beverages, a trend that has been gaining momentum throughout the year. During the 2024 Dry January, sales of these beverages surged notably, with a rise of 15% for beer and cider, nearly 40% for spirits, and 20% for wine.
The popularity of no and low-alcohol drinks continued beyond the initial surge, as supported by the demand during the midweek matches of the Euros, marking the highest sales week outside of the Christmas season. The consistent demand for these alternatives highlights a growing consumer base seeking healthier or lifestyle-driven choices.
Lucky Saint founder, Luke Boase, expressed pride in being part of this milestone with Tesco. “Demand for alcohol-free beer in supermarkets continues to rise,” he stated, highlighting the growing acceptance of such beverages among shoppers.
Alongside the introduction of the alcohol-free beer, Tesco is also enhancing its seasonal menu with an array of new dishes. These include diverse mains such as Chicken & Serrano Ham with Beurre Blanc Sauce and SunBlush Tomato Gnocchi with Roasted Butternut Squash, paired with sides like Roasted Mushrooms in Creamy Garlic Sauce. Desserts like Lemon and Mascarpone Cheesecake Slices also feature in this refreshed menu, offering greater variety to customers seeking a convenient dining experience.
Tesco’s initiative underscores the ongoing transformation in consumer preferences, capitalising on the rising demand for alcohol-free alternatives.
