Tesco is bolstering its Christmas delivery options for 2024 by offering thousands more slots in the two weeks before Christmas. This move aims to accommodate the heightened demand during the festive period, allowing consumers to receive their holiday essentials on time.
To support this increased demand, Tesco has expanded its delivery fleet by introducing 60 additional vans. This enhancement will significantly boost the supermarket’s delivery capacity, ensuring a smoother and more efficient service for its customers.
Tesco’s rapid delivery service, known as Whoosh, has also seen an upgrade. The service will offer thousands of extra slots specifically on Christmas Eve, providing last-minute convenience for shoppers who need to complete their festive preparations.
Tom Denyard, Tesco’s online Managing Director, expressed enthusiasm about these enhancements: “We’re looking forward to helping customers across the UK pick up their family favourites or treat themselves to something special this festive season.”
The supermarket is advocating for its Delivery Saver plan, which offers subscribers early access to booking delivery slots. Members of this plan can secure slots starting from 5 November, a full week earlier than the general public, which gains access on 12 November, a week earlier than in previous years.
Denyard highlighted the benefits of the Delivery Saver plans, noting potential savings of £176 on delivery or collection fees annually. Ken Murphy, Tesco’s Chief Executive, indicated optimism for a prosperous Christmas as more customers opt for premium products amidst higher sales.
