Amsterdam-based fashion label Scotch & Soda has made a comeback at its iconic Carnaby Street location after shutting down all its UK stores in summer 2023. Previously occupying a 590 sq ft retail space at 13/14 Carnaby Street since August 2013, the store’s closure followed the brand’s financial struggles.
In March 2023, Scotch & Soda faced bankruptcy, which led to a temporary halt in their UK operations. However, the situation turned around when they were acquired by Bluestar Alliance, a New York brand management company. This acquisition paved the way for the brand’s recovery and eventual reopening at Carnaby Street.
Prior to their financial difficulties, Scotch & Soda boasted a global presence with 224 stores spread across various countries, including the US, China, Israel, Germany, Egypt, and South Africa. Additionally, the brand’s online platform catered to customers in more than 70 countries, marking its extensive reach in the fashion industry.
The relaunch of the Carnaby Street store has been heralded as the beginning of a new chapter for Scotch & Soda in the UK.
