A significant residential development known as ‘Edition’ is poised to make a substantial impact on Birmingham’s cityscape. Positioned on Brindley Drive near The Library of Birmingham, the ‘Edition’ comprises two towers rising 15 and 46 storeys high, with a combined total of 581 apartments available for purchase.
Currently, the site is occupied by the Paradise Circus council car park, the demolition of which commenced during the summer. This redevelopment is anticipated to generate approximately 300 jobs, including 60 apprenticeships, supporting the local economy.
In addition to its residential offerings, the ‘Edition’ will provide residents with luxurious amenities, covering 23,000 square feet. Among these are a pool, a rooftop outdoor spa, private dining rooms, co-working spaces, a cinema room, a skyline gym, and an outdoor terrace, ensuring a rich living experience in the heart of the city.
The two interconnected buildings, ‘Park Residence’ and ‘Centenary Tower’, reflect a collaborative effort involving Birmingham-based developer Court Collaboration and Cheshire-based Select Property, which is overseeing the marketing strategy. Thomas Taylor, CEO of Court Collaboration, expressed enthusiasm over the strong interest generated by the project thus far.
Designed by CallisonRTKL and interior designers Weedon Architects, with construction led by Midgard, the project is backed financially by PGIM Real Estate. The first phase of this ambitious scheme is slated for completion by 2027, aligning with Birmingham’s 20-year city centre masterplan.
Select Property’s CEO, Adam Price, highlighted Birmingham’s robust rental market, noting that the city’s growth trajectory makes the ‘Edition’ an attractive option for investors. Given the projected 25 per cent population increase by 2040, Edition positions itself as a prime opportunity, centrally located amidst anticipated public and private investments in Birmingham’s historic core.
The ‘Edition’ project stands as a landmark initiative, promising to redefine Birmingham’s residential offerings and contribute significantly to its urban revitalisation.
