Mulberry, a renowned British luxury brand, has named Andrea Baldo as its new Chief Executive Officer. With a rich background in the fashion industry, Baldo steps into this role following his successful leadership at the Danish label, Ganni. His tenure at Ganni, from 2018 to earlier this year, was marked by remarkable achievements. During this period, Baldo guided the company to secure the prestigious B Corp certification, demonstrating a commitment to balanced profit and purpose.
Under Baldo’s direction, Ganni broadened its presence across several key markets. The brand made strategic expansions into the United Kingdom and the United States in 2019, followed by notable entries into China in 2022, Australia in 2023, and Thailand earlier this year. This international growth underlines Baldo’s ability to elevate brand visibility and market reach effectively.
Before his role at Ganni, Baldo amassed valuable experience through leadership positions at various distinguished Italian companies. He served as CEO and board director at Coccinelle, an Italian leather goods company, from 2016 to 2018, and was a board director at Marni Group, a luxury goods company, from 2013 to 2016. These roles helped him hone strategic skills integral to navigating the competitive luxury market.
Further enriching his expertise, Baldo spent a decade at Diesel, where he undertook several senior roles including Chief Operating Officer of the US business. This comprehensive background in diverse markets and business environments informs his readiness to guide Mulberry into its next phase of development.
Baldo is set to officially join Mulberry on 1 September 2024, succeeding Thierry Andretta who is stepping down immediately. Baldo expressed enthusiasm about his new position, stating his eagerness to enhance the brand’s strong sustainability ethos and lead its talented team forward. Chris Roberts, Chairman at Mulberry, highlighted Baldo’s international fashion brand expertise and strategic thinking as pivotal for the role.
Andrea Baldo’s appointment as Mulberry’s CEO marks a new era for the brand with a focus on international expansion and sustainability.
