Several high-profile brands have swiftly moved into former Ted Baker locations.
- Ted Baker closed down 15 stores since entering administration in March.
- Reiss has relocated within Cardiff to one of these vacated stores.
- Søstrene Grene is set to open in Oxford, marking a new entry.
- Alo Yoga expands its presence with a spacious store in Knightsbridge.
Ted Baker’s collapse into administration earlier this year resulted in the closure of at least 15 of its UK stores. This has created opportunities for other retailers to occupy these strategic locations.
Reiss, a premium British fashion brand, seized the opportunity to relocate to a former Ted Baker store in Cardiff’s St David’s shopping centre. This decision allows Reiss to maintain its foothold within a prominent retail hub.
Meanwhile, in Oxford, Danish homeware brand Søstrene Grene is preparing to debut in the UK. Its new store, also a former Ted Baker site, is expected to welcome customers by late August, expanding the brand’s international reach.
The athleisure brand Alo Yoga is another notable retailer taking advantage of the vacated spaces. By acquiring Ted Baker’s Brompton Road site in London’s Knightsbridge, Alo Yoga will open its third UK store, boosting its visibility in a prime location. The new store spans 6,070 square feet and is scheduled to open in September.
In a statement, Teneo, the administrators, highlighted that the remaining Ted Baker properties are on the market for potential reassignment. Authentic Brands Group, Ted Baker’s parent company, is nearing agreements with new partners to help manage British operations, with Frasers Group noted as a leading contender.
The transfer of former Ted Baker locations marks a significant reshaping of retail presence across the UK.
