A Cirencester-based IT support firm, Kubus, has secured a £9m boost from the growth capital investor BGF to expedite its expansion efforts. This substantial investment marks a key milestone for the company, known for its robust vendor relationships with technology giants such as Dell, Fortinet, and Cisco.
As part of the investment agreement, Paul Brennan, formerly associated with BGF-backed Amdaris, joins Kubus as a non-executive chair. Brennan’s notable experience, including his role on the board of Amdaris which was acquired by Insight Enterprises, a Fortune 500 company, in 2023, adds valuable expertise to the Kubus leadership team.
Andrew Humphrey, the chief executive of Kubus, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with BGF. He stated, ‘We are thrilled to partner with BGF and leverage their expertise and resources to take Kubus to the next level. As a business based in the heart of the Cotswolds, we’re proud to be working with businesses and organisations across the world. This investment will allow us to accelerate our global growth plans, innovate faster, and deliver even greater value to our customers.’
Investors from BGF, including Edwin Davies and Louis Hall, led the deal. Davies conveyed optimism about the collaboration, emphasising that, ‘We are excited to invest in Kubus and support their vision for the future. With strong vendor relationships and a long-standing, blue chip customer base, Kubus has demonstrated impressive growth and innovation in the technology sector.’
Kubus reported a turnover of £35m and an EBITDA of £2.6m for the year ending March 31, 2024, reflecting its solid financial performance. The company received investment deal advice from Squire Patton Boggs on legal aspects and Marcussen on tax matters, while BGF was guided by Michelmores and PKF Francis Clark.
This strategic investment and leadership enhancement position Kubus for accelerated growth in the competitive tech market.
