Gordons, a prominent law firm based in Leeds and Bradford, has made significant strides in enhancing its legal team by adding new talent. The firm has recruited four trainee solicitors, amongst whom is Oliver Gillyon, a former legal assistant. Joining him are Beth Inman, Dymphna Lewis, and Hafsah Malik, who are embarking on their legal careers with Gordons. Each trainee undertakes a two-year training contract, designed to provide exposure to various specialisms within the firm. Experienced colleagues offer their expertise and guidance throughout this period, helping the newcomers to develop essential legal and client relationship skills.
In addition to the trainees, Gordons welcomes Ella Walsh and Kailani Hutchinson as apprentices. These appointments are part of the firm’s groundbreaking apprenticeship programme, which was the first of its kind in the UK legal sector when launched in 2011. The programme aims to enhance social mobility, combining academic study with practical, hands-on experience. Gordons fully supports its apprentices by covering their salaries and course fees, thereby enabling the apprentices to focus entirely on their professional development.
Victoria Davey, the managing partner of Gordons, expressed her pleasure in welcoming these new recruits. She highlighted the achievement of the trainees and apprentices in securing their positions, given the competitive nature of the selection process. Davey underlined the firm’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals capable of establishing enduring relationships with both clients and colleagues. She also conveyed her anticipation in witnessing the personal and professional growth of these individuals, as Gordons supports them in achieving their ambitions.
Gordons is a key player in the legal sector, employing 170 people across its offices and serving major clients like Morrisons, Ocado Retail, Wren Kitchens, as well as international corporations including Saint Gobain and Molson Coors.
Gordons continues its tradition of fostering new legal talent through strategic recruitment and innovative apprenticeship programmes.
