The John Lewis Partnership has embarked on a significant recruitment initiative, aiming to hire more than 10,000 people across the United Kingdom. The roles span both the Waitrose and John Lewis brands, including their extensive distribution network. This expansion seeks to enhance customer experience, with dedicated training provided through the company’s School of Service.
This ambitious hiring plan includes more than 2,800 seasonal positions at the 329 Waitrose outlets. Opportunities are available for supermarket assistants, night shift staff, and customer delivery drivers, all geared towards bolstering the in-store and delivery services during peak seasons.
In parallel, the 34 John Lewis stores are set to accommodate over 2,900 temporary roles focused on sales and merchandising. These positions are designed to support the increased demand often experienced during the festive period, ensuring that customer service and product availability remain at the highest standards.
Additionally, the partnership is collaborating with recruitment agencies to fill 2,700 supply chain positions. These roles include warehouse operatives and drivers responsible for handling Waitrose and John Lewis deliveries, as well as managing Click and Collect orders, which are crucial for efficient logistics operations.
Beyond these seasonal roles, the partnership is poised to create 1,700 further opportunities across both brands in the coming months. Lisa Cherry, the Executive Director, emphasised the importance of these roles in maintaining the brands’ reputation for excellent service and quality during the Christmas season, underscoring the significance of providing inspirational products and exceptional service.
This extensive recruitment effort underscores the John Lewis Partnership’s commitment to enhancing customer service and operational efficiency during the festive season.
