Nisa’s sales through forecourt retailers have grown by nearly 30% from 2019 to 2022, according to reports. This growth has been attributed to strategic pricing investments, operational expansions, and the opening of 310 new stores during this period.
In a pivotal move in 2020, Nisa signed a partnership agreement with Ascona Group, which operates 62 forecourts. This year, MPK Garages’ 28 stores are set to receive Co-op branded fascia, furthering Nisa’s reach and brand integration in the forecourt sector.
Victoria Lockie, Nisa’s Head of Retail, remarked on the current growth, describing it as tremendous and encouraging. She highlighted the hard work of Nisa’s teams and forecourt operators who strive to provide top-notch products and services, leading to significant sales increases within the network.
The symbol group has experienced a 23% growth in average weekly sales, primarily due to the effective selection of chilled, food-to-go, and Co-op own-brand items. Lockie praised the long-established relationships with forecourt operators and emphasised the attractiveness of the Co-op brand to retailers.
Nisa’s expansion is not limited to forecourts. Its success extends to the holiday park convenience sector, where its portfolio has grown under the extended contract with Haven Holidays’ parent company, Bourne Leisure. In 2023 alone, 12 new stores joined, marking the strongest recruitment year since the pandemic.
Nisa’s strategic efforts reflect its growing influence and success in the forecourt and convenience store markets.
