Sergio Rossi, the esteemed Italian luxury footwear and accessories brand, has made a significant appointment by naming Paul Andrew as its new Creative Director. The news marks a new chapter for the brand under the ownership of Lanvin Group.
Andrew, a Berkshire native, honed his skills in ready-to-wear and footwear design at Berkshire College of Art and Design. His talents were evident early on, with his first collection making waves at London’s Graduate Fashion Week in 1999.
In 2013, Andrew launched his own eponymous footwear brand, quickly gaining industry recognition. His design prowess was further cemented when he became the first shoe designer to win the prestigious main prize from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue Fashion Fund in 2014.
Andrew’s career path took him to Salvatore Ferragamo in 2016, where he excelled as the design director for women’s shoes. By 2017, he was promoted to the role of Creative Director for women’s wear, eventually overseeing all of Ferragamo’s product categories by 2019. His leadership marked a noteworthy period for the brand as he was the first to hold this title since Salvatore Ferragamo himself.
In 2022, Andrew decided to focus on his own brand, stepping down from Ferragamo where he had been succeeded by Maximilian Davis. Now, as he joins Sergio Rossi, Andrew expresses his excitement for contributing to its legacy: “I am honoured and delighted to join Sergio Rossi as Creative Director, a world-renowned house of shoemaking whose roots and legacy speak to the lasting power of Italian savoir-faire.”
Helen Wright, who took over as CEO of Sergio Rossi in December 2023, praised Andrew’s talents. She described him as “a remarkable and exciting talent,” highlighting his innovative approach and technical fluency, qualities that resonate with the brand’s heritage and audience.
This move comes as Lanvin Group, the owner of Sergio Rossi, reported a slight revenue increase in February, signalling a stable financial position. The new leadership marks a bright future for Sergio Rossi, promising innovation while preserving the brand’s traditional artistry.
