Sainsbury’s has once again introduced the popular ‘Great fruit & veg challenge’ as part of their loyalty programme through Nectar. Running from 23 August to 10 October, this initiative allows customers to earn a minimum of 1,000 bonus Nectar points by completing three personalised tasks related to fruit and vegetable purchases. These tasks are crafted based on individual shopping habits, providing a tailored experience for each participant.
The challenge can be easily joined via the Nectar app at any time during its seven-week duration. The earned bonus points are not limited to use within Sainsbury’s; they can also be redeemed with partners such as Argos, Esso, and eBay, thus offering great flexibility for participants.
Participants have the option of contributing to their task through the purchase of fresh, tinned, frozen, or dried fruit and vegetables. By doing so, the initiative aims to not only aid in fostering healthier eating habits but also provides valuable information on recipe ideas as well as food waste and storage tips.
The success of this campaign in previous years has been notable. Last year alone, the challenge influenced the purchase of 88 million portions of fruit and vegetables. Customers who engaged with the challenge purchased over three times more of these products than those who did not participate, highlighting the campaign’s effectiveness in encouraging healthier shopping choices.
Alex Lovell, Sainsbury’s head of loyalty marketing, commented on the relaunch, stating, “We know how important it is for our customers to eat a varied and healthy diet, and that’s why we’re bringing back the Great fruit & veg challenge for yet another year. Last year, we saw over 580,000 customers take part and a whopping 106 million bonus points awarded.” With the challenge now in its fourth instalment, there is anticipation for increased participation and an even greater distribution of bonus points.
The return of the ‘Great fruit & veg challenge’ aims to motivate more customers towards healthy eating with exciting rewards.
