This Saturday marks a landmark event for M&S, with 5,000 customers set to enjoy free shopping through the ‘Sparks Super Saturday’ competition.
- The initiative enhances the already popular Sparks rewards programme by scaling it to an unprecedented level.
- Participants need to scan their Sparks card in store or log in online to stand a chance of winning.
- This promotional event reflects M&S’s ongoing strategy to expand its market presence and increase customer engagement.
- Aldi is joining the trend with its own giveaway via Facebook, echoing the competitive landscape of the retail sector.
This Saturday, M&S is poised to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience by allowing 5,000 of its customers in the UK to receive their shopping for free. The ‘Sparks Super Saturday’ competition amplifies M&S’s longstanding Sparks programme, which rewards its members with free shopping every week.
Since the relaunch of Sparks in 2020, M&S has provided £3.5 million worth of free shopping to members, including a substantial single giveaway of nearly £3,500. To participate in the upcoming event, it is necessary for customers to either scan their Sparks card in-store or sign into their Sparks account for online purchases. Winners will be informed instantly in-store and online shoppers will receive email notifications.
M&S is encouraging non-Sparks members to join, underscoring its aim to widen its customer base. Kirsty Ward, Director of M&S Connect, emphasised the expansion of the loyalty scheme by stating, ‘Since relaunching Sparks as a Digital First loyalty scheme, we’ve doubled the number of Sparks members – rewarding them with personalised offers, special treats and thank yous.’
In a parallel development, Aldi is also engaging customers with a competition of its own. The retailer is distributing £100 vouchers to 20 lucky individuals via its Facebook platform. To qualify, participants must comment on the Facebook post by sharing their bank holiday weekend plans. The contest runs until 21 August, with winners announced the following day.
These initiatives highlight the vigorous competitive strategies employed within the retail sector to captivate and retain customer interest.
Retail giants continue to leverage innovative loyalty schemes to strengthen their market position and draw in consumers.
