Innovate Finance is embarking on a transformative journey to support fintech startups across the United Kingdom. The organisation has announced a series of regional pitch events slated for the North, South West, Midlands, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales over the coming year. This initiative is designed to highlight the promising fintech talent residing outside the capital, offering a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their innovations to a broader audience.
The ‘Pitch360: Across the UK’ programme will feature entrepreneurs presenting their pioneering business solutions. The aim is to not only spark interest but also to demonstrate how these innovations can drive growth and transform financial services. The events will involve a live audience and a panel of esteemed industry judges, promising to offer exposure and valuable feedback to the participants.
Janine Hirt, the CEO of Innovate Finance, emphasised the importance of this initiative, noting that while the UK leads globally in fintech investment, the majority is concentrated in London. “Our hope is that this programme will help drive attention and ultimately investment to the brilliant businesses based all across our nation,” Hirt stated, underscoring the need for a geographical spread of opportunities and resources.
The initiative was formally introduced by the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Tulip Siddiq, during a keynote speech at the ‘Innovation Driving Growth’ forum held in London. She remarked, “‘Pitch 360: Across the UK’ is a great opportunity to showcase the outstanding fintech talent across the UK regions,” further highlighting the significance of regional representation in the fintech sphere.
This strategic move by Innovate Finance is backed by the City of London Corporation, demonstrating a commitment to fostering innovation and investment beyond the traditional confines of the capital. It aligns with broader efforts to amplify regional capabilities and potentials within the UK’s financial technology landscape.
This initiative marks a significant step towards decentralising fintech opportunities and encouraging investment across the UK’s diverse regions.
