Landsec’s shopping centres have launched a new festive campaign fronted by animated turkeys. Known for their vibrant animation and quirky personality, these turkeys are brought to life by Flipbook Studio and voiced by esteemed actress Dame Joanna Lumley. This campaign revisits the popular concept introduced previously and aims to stand out in the competitive holiday season marketing space.
Antonio Bachini, Creative Director at The Traveller and the Bear, stated that the decision to focus on turkeys was a strategic move against traditional heartstring-tugging Christmas adverts, adding, ‘Strutting, dancing, twerking, preening turkeys. Makes total sense, right?’ The turkeys are designed to provide Landsec’s destinations with a distinctive and recognisable character, adding a sense of fun and glamour to the festive shopping experience.
Flipbook Studio’s team based in Manchester intricately designed, modelled, and animated each turkey, paying close attention to feather simulations and complex rigging. Andrew Lord, Managing Director at Flipbook Studio, highlighted the effort that went into making the turkeys as lifelike as possible to resonate with audiences and make a lasting impression.
The advertisement will be extensively promoted on various platforms, including TV, Video on Demand, outdoor advertising, radio, and social media. It will also make a major appearance on the iconic Piccadilly Lights. The commercial will span across several Landsec locations, such as Bluewater in Kent, Braintree Village in Essex, and Westgate Oxford, among others.
