Camilla Mankabady, who has been instrumental in directing Liverpool’s strategic communications, especially during the Eurovision event, has now been appointed as the Director of Strategic Communications and Corporate Affairs at the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. Mankabady steps into this new role having previously served as the Director of Communications for Liverpool City Council since 2019.
Prior to her work with the City Council, Mankabady held roles abroad, including a senior media consultancy position at Euronews in France. Her extensive career also includes significant editorial roles with ITV’s News at Ten and a 15-year tenure at BBC News. She expressed enthusiasm about this new chapter, saying, “This new role at the heart of the Combined Authority is an exciting opportunity to put the Liverpool City Region at the heart of the devolution conversation. My team and I will work hard to support the Mayor’s vision, the work of his Cabinet, and to ensure that residents right across the region feel empowered and enthused. This strategic move comes as part of Mayor Steve Rotheram’s comprehensive vision for Liverpool City Region. As he enters his third term, Rotheram has underlined his commitment to continuing the progress made since the Combined Authority’s inception. Significant achievements under his leadership include the creation of 60,000 new jobs, extensive training opportunities, and substantial investments, such as a £500 million allocation for new public trains and a landmark decision to reclaim public control of the buses by 2027.
Alongside Mankabady, Tim Games has also been appointed as the Executive Director, Investment and Delivery. These appointments follow a rigorous national recruitment process, as noted by Katherine Fairclough, the Chief Executive of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. She remarked, “In Tim and Camilla, we are fortunate to have secured two candidates of huge experience and of the highest calibre.
