The exhibition, titled Bigger & Closer (not smaller & further away), builds on its previous successful run in London’s Lightroom. It gives UK audiences a chance to engage with Hockney’s work in a new format following his return to the UK in July 2023.

Directed by Mark Grimmer from 59 Studio, the exhibition highlights Hockney’s lifelong interest in new media. Visitors will observe Hockney’s use of photography as a way to experiment with perspective, his polaroid collages capturing time’s passage, and digital art created on his iPad.
The retrospective covers Hockney’s artistic influence from California to Yorkshire, and to his present work in Normandy. It offers a rare opportunity to delve into the mind of one of the most admired artists in Britain, known for his innovation and stunning visual expressions.
