Channel 4 has taken a substantial step forward by appointing David Wigglesworth as its new Executive Creative Director and Creative Partner for 4creative. This move signifies the broadcaster’s intent to enhance its creative output significantly.
Wigglesworth transitions from his role at Grey London, where he has served as Executive Creative Director for the past two years. His career also includes influential positions at Sony Music, St Lukes, Mcgarrybowen, and Fallon London. His entry marks the end of Lynsey Atkin’s tenure, who stepped down from the role last month.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Wigglesworth remarked, “As a kid who spent their waking life one foot away from a TV screen, Channel 4 was special. Hollyoaks coached me through puberty, Beavis & Butt-head blew my tiny mind and Brass Eye opened my eyes to satire. In my career, I’ve always admired 4creative, setting the bar impossibly high with years of groundbreaking work.”
In his newly expanded role, Wigglesworth’s focus will remain on 4creative. Simultaneously, he will strive to permeate Channel 4’s ‘Altogether Different’ ethos into fresh, innovative dimensions, demonstrating a clear forward-thinking strategy.
Wigglesworth will collaborate closely with Miketta Lane, the newly promoted Director of 4creative, to co-lead and bolster the agency’s growth. He will oversee all creative output, ensuring the delivery of cutting-edge and agenda-setting work aligned with Channel 4’s distinctive remit.
Both Wigglesworth and Lane will report directly to Chief Marketing Officer Katie Jackson, who expressed her excitement about Wigglesworth’s appointment, highlighting his propensity to push boundaries and his impressive record of innovation and energy. Wigglesworth is set to assume his role in January.
Wigglesworth’s appointment heralds a new era of creativity and innovation for Channel 4.
