This Christmas, television audiences can look forward to a humorous festive offering featuring Lee Mack and Chris McCausland. Known for their comedic prowess, the duo takes on the roles of bickering neighbours in the Sky special ‘Bad Tidings’.
The show is penned by the acclaimed writing team of Laurence Rickard and Martha Howe-Douglas, renowned for their witty work on ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Horrible Histories’. This auspicious project features Mack and McCausland alongside Welsh actress Rebekah Staton.
In ‘Bad Tidings’, Lee Mack portrays Neil, a home security expert residing in Stockport, who finds himself in a perpetual tussle with his neighbour Scott, played by Chris McCausland. Scott proves to be a thorn in Neil’s side by swapping bins and leaving his Christmas lights on year-round, among other antics.
The tension between Neil and Scott escalates when the latter is considered for the position of head of the Neighbourhood Watch. Neil’s objections culminate in an eventful showdown on Christmas Eve, where disaster strikes as the power goes out across the street.
With the entire neighbourhood forced to disperse due to the outage, Neil and Scott find themselves alone. Unbeknownst to them, a local criminal family, ‘The Brennans’, plans a large-scale heist to empty the homes of the unsuspecting street, posing a new threat.
The calamitous duo, now with no lights or alarms to rely on, must put aside their differences. The humorous twist is that Scott’s blindness could unexpectedly play a crucial role in thwarting the Brennans’ plan.
In this delightful caper, viewers are treated to a blend of comedy and adventure as Mack and McCausland’s characters work to redeem their chaotic Christmas.
