- Launch aligns with Hays’ tech transformation ambitions.
A Liverpool-based travel technology company, digitaltravel.io, has developed a bespoke application for the UK’s largest independent travel agent, Hays Travel. This development aims to enhance customer service and engagement through an innovative digital solution. The app allows users to securely store and access their travel documents, manage payments, and engage with additional services such as airport parking and car rentals. It also features interactive elements like a travel countdown, games, and the ability to earn badges.
The app underwent extensive testing phases. Initially, Hays Travel staff in both retail branches and the Sunderland Head Office assessed the application, providing essential feedback. This internal trial was followed by a customer trial phase, during which the app was rolled out to various retail divisions. Customers were encouraged to download and explore the app, contributing their own feedback about the functionality and user experience.
Dame Irene Hays, Chair of Hays Travel, expressed her satisfaction, stating the app is a significant achievement in their technological advancement programme. Dame Irene highlighted the app’s interactive features as enhancements to the customer experience, complementing the services provided by their in-branch agents.
Peter Whittle, CEO of digitaltravel.io and a veteran in the travel technology industry, sees this project as a pivotal moment for his firm. According to Whittle, the app not only enhances the customer experience but is also designed to boost Hays Travel’s brand loyalty and reputation. The app is all-encompassing, focusing on both the travel planning phase and customer engagement post-booking.
Both digitaltravel.io and Hays Travel have further plans for the app, with a roadmap for future developments and new functionalities. These planned enhancements aim to further improve the customer journey and experience.
This collaboration marks a notable step forward in the digital evolution of travel services.
