In an initiative to improve health and safety management, Nexer Digital has partnered with The University of Cambridge to launch a digital platform known as the Safety Hub. This collaboration aims to redefine how safety processes are recorded and managed across the university’s departments.
The Safety Hub emerges as a centralised resource that seeks to standardise safety practices. It provides a coherent framework for risk recording, making the environment safer for students, staff, and visitors. The platform’s user-centred design ensures that it remains intuitive, accessible, and tailored to the diverse needs of university departments.
Leveraging the existing Microsoft technology at the university, the Safety Hub simplifies the handling of health and safety tasks. Key features include a searchable Safety Library, a Role Register to keep track of departmental safety contacts, and a Risk Reporting Tool, all of which empower the users to manage risks effectively and enhance transparency and accountability.
The development of the Safety Hub was heavily driven by Nexer Digital’s commitment to a user-focused design approach. Extensive research and collaboration with users were pivotal in developing a platform that addresses the challenges faced in real-world settings. Feedback from rigorous testing was instrumental in refining the tool, ensuring it is both functional and easy to use.
Alex Blandford, the head of product at The University of Cambridge, praised the partnership, noting, “We loved working with Nexer Digital as they brought patience and experience. They put together a proper multidisciplinary team and took our subject matter experts with them to build something that met our requirements and, more importantly, centred on users’ needs.”
Lee Emery from Nexer Digital also expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, “We’re proud to have worked with the University of Cambridge on this user-focused project. The Safety Hub demonstrates how technology and thoughtful design can come together to tackle complex challenges, making a meaningful difference for organisations and their people.”
The partnership between Nexer Digital and Cambridge University sets a new standard for safety management through innovation and collaboration.
