- The partnership positions Sky as a leading entertainment provider.
Sky and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have announced a significant expansion of their collaboration in the UK and Ireland. This extended partnership will see Sky customers enjoying a wealth of content from Warner Bros. Discovery, including the inclusion of the ad-supported version of Max, a premium streaming service. This service will be available at no additional cost to Sky subscribers when it launches in early 2026.
The agreement ensures that Sky customers can continue to watch beloved series such as ‘House of the Dragon,’ ‘The White Lotus,’ and ‘The Last of Us’ on Sky Atlantic, with new series also featured until the end of 2025. Moreover, the collaboration introduces Sky customers to an even greater selection of Warner Bros. Discovery’s content, featuring a new lineup exclusive to Max, such as the upcoming series of ‘Harry Potter.’
This development further enriches Sky’s extensive offerings, which already include Sky Originals, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, Netflix, Universal, Sony, and Paramount content. In addition, NOW UK and Ireland Entertainment members will similarly benefit from access to the ad-supported version of Max, enhancing their viewing experience. These changes are seamlessly integrated into the current NOW platform, providing a wide array of premium content.
The agreement complements Sky’s strategic securing of long-term sports rights, extending through most of the decade. Sky Sports will see an increased lineup and coverage of sports events, including top-tier events like the Premier League, Formula 1, and more. Sky Sports+ has been introduced earlier this year, offering customers 50% more sports without extra fees, broadening the sports entertainment options.
Sky Group CEO, Dana Strong, highlighted the company’s accomplishments, stating that the deal consolidates Sky’s position as a principal TV destination. Strong mentioned the successful transition from satellite to IP, with a significant number of new customers opting for Sky Glass or Sky Stream. This strategic move strengthens Sky’s role as a preferred partner for streaming services, rights holders, and content creators, offering an unrivalled entertainment package.
This partnership marks a new chapter in Sky’s entertainment offerings, enhancing its already comprehensive lineup with expanded access to Warner Bros. Discovery content.
