A dedicated team from Blick Rothenberg embarked on a 50-mile walk to support cancer charities.
- The walk took place along the stunning Jersey coastline, beginning from Gorey on the East Coast.
- The event was held in memory of two esteemed colleagues, Linda Bute and Mike Scoltock.
- The participants’ efforts were met with great generosity, resulting in over £10,000 raised.
- Blick Rothenberg also pledged additional support to one of the charities as their firm charity of the year.
Six colleagues from Blick Rothenberg, a prominent audit, tax, and business advisory firm, undertook a significant charitable event by walking 50 miles around Jersey. The purpose of their challenge was to gather support and funds for two vital causes—the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and The Connection at St Martin’s. The walk was also a tribute to two of their former colleagues, Linda Bute and Mike Scoltock, who sadly lost their lives to cancer and had participated in the inaugural Jersey Walk fifteen years prior.
The journey began from Gorey on the East Coast on Friday the 13th, where the walkers were blessed with favourable weather, turning the British coastline into a seemingly Mediterranean landscape. Heather Powell, Head of Property at Blick Rothenberg, commented on the beauty of the scenery and how it provided a momentary distraction from the physical challenges of the walk. The group remained motivated throughout, thanks to the overwhelming support and generous donations from colleagues and friends.
Despite the difficulties, such as steep cliffs and enduring physical pain, the participants persevered, driven by their camaraderie and shared resolve. Powell recounted how the interaction within the group, also describing themselves humorously as ‘six misfits’, helped them push through the challenging course. As they approached the destination near Gorey castle, a profound sense of accomplishment enveloped the exhausted yet triumphant walkers.
The success of this endeavour was not only measured by the completion of the walk but also by the outpouring of support they received. With the help of over 300 donations, they managed to raise a substantial amount exceeding £10,000. Blick Rothenberg announced an additional contribution in keeping with their commitment to supporting The Connection as their chosen charity of the year.
The Blick Rothenberg team’s meaningful endeavour highlights the power of community and dedication in supporting critical causes.
