In an era characterised by adaptability and change, a recent independent survey has uncovered a notable transition among UK businesses regarding office attendance. According to the findings, 59% of senior decision-makers now expect employees to be present in the office more frequently than they were in the past year. This increase underscores a growing recognition of the value of in-person interactions in driving business success.
Moreover, 31% of respondents identified the availability of events and networking opportunities as the most critical factor when selecting a flexible workspace. Such elements are increasingly considered catalysts for business growth and employee engagement, accentuating the shift back to traditional working patterns.
Furthermore, 65% of respondents pointed out that technology within workspaces is vital for effective networking and collaboration. This emphasis on technological proficiency suggests that firms are keen to leverage cutting-edge solutions to facilitate seamless connections among employees, thereby enhancing productivity and innovation.
Despite the clear trajectory towards enhanced in-office interactions, not all businesses are reaping the benefits of current technologies. A quarter of the survey’s participants reported deficiencies in their office technology, particularly regarding mobile or online platforms for booking meeting rooms and registering guests. Similarly, 19% indicated that they faced challenges with platforms used for communication and event updates.
Thomas Proctor, CEO of NCG, encapsulated the situation by stating: “After years of remote working following the pandemic, many businesses are now insisting that their employees return to the office at least some of the time. What’s clear is that business leaders believe in-person interactions and collaboration are vital to their growth.” Proctor continued to stress the significance of superior technology, asserting that it is essential for landlords and operators to install industry-leading solutions to remain competitive.
As UK businesses navigate the post-pandemic landscape, increased office attendance is becoming a key component of strategic planning, guided by the imperative for human interaction and technological excellence.
