UK workers report feeling disconnected due to workload, not remote work.
- Automate to Elevate reveals only 26% struggle with virtual connections.
- An overwhelming 74% see automation as crucial for workplace connectivity.
- Nearly half would prioritise relationship-building with extra daily time.
- Automation enhances productivity, improving work quality and collaboration.
In a recent study titled “Automate to Elevate,” it has been highlighted that an increasing workload, rather than remote work arrangements, is leading UK workers to feel disconnected from each other. Contrary to popular belief, only a small fraction, 26%, find virtual connections challenging, and even fewer, 23%, feel the lack of physical office presence hampers collaboration.
The study, commissioned by Sago, underscores that nearly half of the surveyed employees expressed a need for an additional 30-60 minutes daily to focus on building relationships with colleagues. This suggests that time constraints, not location, are pivotal in fostering workplace connections.
A striking 74% of the respondents view automation tools as instrumental in enhancing employee connections. According to Stephanie Dwight, Workato’s Vice President of Automation and Applications, embracing automation as a strategic element is vital for cultivating a collaborative and connected work culture.
Moreover, the report emphasises that 87% of respondents recognise the time-saving benefits of automation, which liberates them for more meaningful and thoughtful tasks. This reallocation of time is not only enhancing productivity but is also perceived as improving the quality of their work.
Furthermore, the survey reveals that automation tools serve as a conduit for collaboration and innovation. This is supported by the finding that a significant majority, 86%, believe automation allows them to engage in more complex work, while 85% associate it with improved productivity.
UK workers increasingly see workload, not location, as the key barrier to connection; automation emerges as a transformative solution.
