According to announcements, the renovation aims to create a more inviting space, particularly appealing to residents of nearby Brabazon, Patchway, and Charlton Hayes.
The café resides within the renowned Aerospace Bristol Museum, home to the last Concorde to take flight. Interestingly, the café is accessible to the public without needing a museum entrance ticket, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The refurbishment work is slated to commence in January, involving a few days of closure, with an anticipated reopening in February.
In the interim, visitors will not be left without refreshment options, thanks to the availability of the Café under Concorde during the renovation period. This ensures continuity of services while the main café undergoes its transformation. The refurbishment includes incorporating a new interior design inspired by the Bristol Aeroplane Company’s legacy, embracing the site’s rich aviation history.

As Adam Jones, head of marketing and commercial operations, noted: “We’re aiming to create a much more welcoming space for our community’s residents. This transformation will not only elevate the café but also help us further achieve our goal of being a community hub where visitors can relax and connect.”
The café’s efforts were recently recognised with a Food and Drink award from VisitEngland, praising the quality and local sourcing of its offerings. Fosters Events, the catering company behind the café, expressed excitement for the relaunch, with Operations Director Chris Walter stating: “We have brought our quality, locally sourced food to Aerospace Bristol and have served wonderful seasonal menus to their many visitors. It’s fantastic to be recognised by VisitEngland and to receive a Food & Drink accolade.”
Furthermore, the announcement of the renovation coincides with the 23rd anniversary of Concorde’s final commercial flight. This milestone is a poignant reminder of the site’s historical significance, underscoring the importance of maintaining and enhancing such cultural touchstones.
