Ben Sherman, a name synonymous with British heritage menswear, has made a grand return to the UK high street with the launch of two flagship stores.
- The Brighton store marks a historic return to the brand’s roots, located where Ben Sherman was initially founded 61 years ago.
- A second store in London’s Soho highlights the brand’s strategic expansion in key urban areas.
- This move marks the reopening of full-price stores following closures in Carnaby Street and Commercial Street.
- Visitors to these stores can expect exclusive previews of upcoming collections, alongside a limited-edition collaboration.
Ben Sherman, renowned for its classic menswear, has re-entered the UK retail scene by opening flagship stores in Brighton and London’s Soho. The Brighton store, at 19-20 Dukes Lane, holds significant heritage value as it brings the brand back to its origins, established 61 years after its initial inception.
Strongly positioned at 97 Berwick Street in Soho, the upcoming London store, set to open on 29 August, signifies a major step in the brand’s UK expansion strategy.
This revival of full-price stores in the UK reflects Ben Sherman’s intent to firmly re-establish its presence after earlier closures precipitated by the former licensee’s insolvency measures in 2020. Once prominent locations on Carnaby and Commercial Streets had to be shuttered, marking a setback that is now being strategically reversed.
In addition to these flagship locations, Ben Sherman maintains a flexible pop-up store at Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross, complementing its seven outlet stores throughout the UK.
The brand’s influential presence extends to the global stage, highlighted by its role as the official supplier for Team GB at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Providing ceremonial attire for the British athletes, Ben Sherman’s designs made a distinguished display of its sartorial elegance.
On the stores’ opening, Tim Reid of Marquee Brands expressed enthusiasm for the brand’s growth trajectory, underscoring the exciting developments ahead. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to preview the latest collections, including an exclusive limited-edition collaboration scheduled for early September.
Ben Sherman’s strategic reopening of flagship stores signifies a confident return to the UK high street, underscoring its commitment to heritage and innovation.
