Bensons for Beds has rapidly expanded its footprint by opening 15 new stores in the past three weeks. This swift expansion follows its acquisition of 19 Carpetright locations in August. The company has been actively converting these former flooring chain units and has now successfully reopened a majority of them.
The recent openings include branches in various locations such as Aberdeen, Ashton, Bath, Belfast, Canterbury, Edmonton, Exeter, Gillingham, Irvine, Kettering, Oldbury, Salisbury, Slough, Solihull, Sutton, and Torquay. Notably, Bensons has traditionally focused on retail parks; however, the opening of its first high street store in Sutton signals a strategic shift.
Returning to Northern Ireland after four years, Bensons has marked its comeback with the launch of a new store in Belfast. This move indicates the company’s intention to strengthen its presence across diverse markets.
Bensons for Beds’ chief executive, Nick Collard, stated: “The scale of openings we have managed to take on in the last few weeks is unprecedented by us as a business and is a huge feat for any retail business, particularly in the current economic climate.” He further emphasised that the company’s transformation aims to position it as the leading bed specialist, offering expert advice and value for money.
Collard also noted the company’s financial recovery, stating: “Since our return to profitability in 2023, we have continued to see significant market share gains across all our core categories, reflecting the hard work from all of our colleagues across the organisation.”
Bensons for Beds’ recent store openings highlight its strategic growth and adaptability in challenging market conditions.
