An investigation into allegations against Boohoo has intensified, with claims of stalking and corporate espionage at its core. Security firm Control Risks, employed by Boohoo, identified an alleged campaign targeting senior figures, including former CEO John Lyttle and co-founder Mahmud Kamani.
Control Risks’ findings have spurred involvement from multiple police forces, including Manchester, Kent, and now the Metropolitan Police. These entities are probing reports that a man was shadowed by unknown individuals across various locations between July and August this year.
The incidents involved multiple operatives allegedly following Boohoo executives using public transport and congregating near their residences and the company’s Manchester headquarters. Further, unregistered surveillance equipment found near this office in November has been given to the police for assessment.
Further complicating matters, John Lyttle’s departure as CEO in October is believed to be partly influenced by these unsettling reports, coupled with recent infractions on his property, while Mahmud Kamani reportedly faced physical assault.
Adding to the company’s challenges, Boohoo is experiencing friction with Frasers Group, a major shareholder, which is now pressing for significant changes in leadership, citing a crisis within the company. Frasers’ CEO, Michael Murray, commented cautiously, withholding further public statement at this stage.
