In response to a growing trend among British consumers seeking comforting meals at home, a major supermarket has introduced a variety of new culinary options across its pizza, Bistro, and Bom Bahia ranges.
The newly launched products include four hand-stretched, premium Italian-style woodfired sourdough pizzas priced at £4.75 each. These include Margherita, Salsiccia Piccante & ‘Nduja, Chicken Arrabiata, and Prosciutto Funghi. Kathryn Saveall, a product development manager, expressed pride in these new offerings, noting, “We hope they will give customers a taste of an authentic restaurant-style Italian pizza but without the hefty price tag.” Her personal favourite, the Prosciutto Funghi, features mascarpone and garlic-roasted mushrooms paired with prosciutto cotto, promising a rich flavour experience.
Moreover, enhancements to the retailer’s Bistro meal deal are also notable. For £10, customers can select a starter, main, side, and dessert. Noteworthy additions include Sausage and Buttery Mash, Lamb Hot Pot, Beer Batter Haddock & Mushy Peas, and Slow Cooked Gammon Shanks with a Mustard Glaze. Each of these dishes is also available individually for £6. New starter options such as Mac & Cheese with Smokey Ketchup and Cod Fish Cakes with Tartare Sauce, as well as the Chocolate Caramel Profiteroles as a dessert choice, are priced at £4 each.
Additionally, the Bom Bahia range now features new main dishes like Chicken Tikka Masala, Kashmiri Chicken Korma, Garlic Chicken Balti, and King Prawn Bhuna, each offered at £5. The accompanying side dishes include options such as Garlic & Coriander Naan Bread, Lamb Samosas, Onion Bhajis, Chicken Chaat Kachori, and Aloo Tikka Bites. This expansion reflects the supermarket’s commitment to offering diverse flavours that cater to a variety of culinary preferences.
These new additions are in line with a broader move toward providing customers with affordable, high-quality meals that replicate the dining-out experience at home, reflecting the changing dynamics of consumer dining preferences.
