Card Factory has secured a significant partnership with Aldi, positioning itself as the supermarket’s exclusive card supplier.
- This renewal and expansion of their partnership means Card Factory will now supply Aldi’s 1,200 UK and new Irish stores.
- The partnership, initially formed in 2019, expands from supplying 550 stores to Aldi’s complete UK network.
- The agreement with Aldi is part of Card Factory’s broader strategy to enhance its retail footprint.
- Despite a decline in profits, Card Factory reported a 6% increase in sales over the recent period.
Card Factory has strengthened its relationship with Aldi, becoming its exclusive supplier of greeting cards. This move places Card Factory at the forefront of Aldi’s growing network of 1,200 stores across the United Kingdom and, for the first time, extends its reach to Aldi’s stores in Ireland.
The collaboration between Card Factory and Aldi began in 2019, when Card Factory started supplying cards to 550 stores in the UK. Initially, the supply deal was shared with IG Design Group. However, the recent agreement marks a significant expansion as Card Factory will now be the sole supplier, enhancing its distribution scope to cover all Aldi stores in the UK and entering the Irish market.
The partnership forms a critical component of Card Factory’s strategic plan to increase its presence within the retail sector. Last year, the company tested its product offerings in Matalan’s stores, which proved successful, prompting a further rollout across all of Matalan’s branches.
Despite facing a 43% drop in pre-tax profits, falling to £14 million for the six months leading to July 31, Card Factory has seen a 6% rise in sales. This increase indicates a resilience in consumer demand for its products, underpinning the brand’s strategic decisions and partnerships.
The exclusive agreement with Aldi is a strategic move by Card Factory to cement its presence in both the UK and Irish markets.
