In a heartwarming gesture, Lidl has unveiled its 2024 Christmas advert, emphasising the spirit of giving through its festive toy bank partnership with Neighbourly.
The newly released 60-second film sets a poignant scene with the narration highlighting magic available to everyone except one. As the story unfolds, a young boy, left isolated and cold on the sidelines, watches other children enjoy sledging. His plight captures the attention of a kindly girl, who is momentarily halted by an elderly woman advising her to ‘make a wish when the bell rings’.
Returning home, the girl and her family each make wishes varying from a giant gingerbread man arriving at their doorstep to transforming sprouts into biscuits. However, the little girl’s wish takes a special turn as she decides to send her present—a Lidl woolly hat—to the solitary boy she noticed earlier.
This heartwarming story coincides with Lidl’s reintroduction of its nationwide in-store Christmas Toy Bank initiative. Until 16 December, Lidl invites customers to donate new and unopened toys, games, books, puzzles, and arts and crafts at any store location. These donations will be distributed to children across the country via a vast network of charity partners.
The campaign holds particular significance this year as an overwhelming 97% of Lidl’s affiliated charities have expressed a pressing need for toys. With a bold aim to donate over 100,000 toys, Lidl seeks to bring joy to more children than ever during the festive season.
Through this engaging advert and its charitable initiative, Lidl demonstrates a profound commitment to community welfare, illustrating the true essence of holiday giving.
