Co-op, in collaboration with Quadient, is expanding its network of parcel lockers across the UK, aiming to enhance convenience for its customers.
Co-op is set to introduce 30 parcel lockers in various locations including Bedford, Bradford, Guildford, Keighley, Liverpool, Stockport, Swinton, and Telford by the end of the month. This initiative aligns with the retailer’s strategy to broaden its range of services, especially in terms of logistics. The lockers, part of Quadient’s Parcel Pending network, are designed not only for parcel deliveries and returns but also for new services such as key drop-offs through Keynest.
The aim is to facilitate convenient and secure parcel handling for local residents and time-pressed consumers. Customers can collect or return parcels with ease, taking advantage of Co-op’s strategic store locations situated on high streets and within transport hubs, university campuses, and residential developments. George Hayworth, Co-op’s head of q-comm development, emphasised that this service will significantly enhance convenience by allowing member-owners and customers to manage parcels at their leisure.
Katia Bourgeais-Crémel, Quadient’s director of locker automation in Europe, highlighted the partnership’s potential to streamline the process of parcel management. She noted that customers could collect or return parcels during their grocery visits or daily routines, making the process both simple and seamless. This integration represents Co-op’s continuing commitment to evolving its services to meet modern consumer needs.
The development follows a previous expansion in Co-op’s parcel locker initiatives. Earlier in June, the company significantly increased its partnership with InPost by tripling the number of parcel lockers available. Such moves reflect a forward-thinking approach in adapting to the increasing demand for efficient and flexible shopping solutions.
With the continued expansion of its parcel locker services, Co-op demonstrates its commitment to improving consumer convenience, marking yet another step in its strategic enhancement of added-value services.
